ProjectPorkchop is all about bringing more exposure to the many talented yet under appreciated artists going unseen on deviantART daily. The artists chosen truly deserve more attention based on low counts of favorites, comments, and watchers, added to their incredible artistic talent.

Welcome back for another edition of our new interview series

ProjectPorkchop: Prime Cuts

hosted by DMD-CT

This project is intended to bring the community closer to the many talented yet underexposed artists that we feature each week. Today's featured artist is Forest-Walker.

:iconforest-walker:

"My name is Alvaro Estrada from Chile and I'm a freelance illustrator. I started working in 2012 as a 2D digital animator, working on some short films and tv series for my country."

When did you first realize that you wanted to become an artist?

Well, I think it was pretty recently, like in early 2014. As I said before, I've worked as a 2d digital animator and one day I had the chance to do some D2 backgrounds. That was when I realized that I liked painting a lot and then I started to practice on my own, studying color and technique.

What would you say defines your unique personal style?

Hmm, this one is difficult to me...I think I don't have any Personal style, rather, I think I paint depending on what im doing that week, or what i've seen on internet.. it's like, when you saw a really cool illustration and you think "I have to try to do something like that!" When i paint it's like a mix of cool stuff that i've seen on internet.

Which piece from your gallery would you say you are most proud of?

My favorite one is The King of Horns and the others like the Abyss creatures that I've painted, cuz they're personal pieces of something that i've been working on. They're like the stuff that I really enjoy to paint, fantasy creatures and weird Fauna from the Abyss.

What inspires you to create your art?

I think it's Nature because when I was a child, I spent many hours looking at pictures of animals in an old encyclopedia. Also, I have lots of books about Dinosaurs...actually, at first I wanted to be a Veterinarian.

What projects are you working on currently that the community should know about? What do you have planned for the future?

Recently, I have worked on Mitos y Leyendas, a TCG from my country. I have lots of fun working there and painting Mythology is pretty much one of my favorite themes. As for my future as a Freelance artist, I have no idea (about work) but, on my personal stuff, I want to keep studying...I have a lot to learn yet.

What first attracted you to Deviant Art?
What do you hope to accomplish in your time on this site?

At first i was looking for artists to read interviews and learn some techniques, tutorials, brush sets and look at what the professionals were doing, so i could focus on something to start my career. Also, one of my favorite artists had her portfolio on DA, so I was checking everyday to see if she had uploaded some new piece, haha. (Yes, I'm talking about loish btw). I also want to get better here...I have received some very nice critiques on my work, know some people and share stuff.

Please tell us one interesting fact about yourself that we don't know about you.

I have never read a comic or manga! Usually people freak out when i ask about something about DC or Marvel because I'm not sure which heroes are from which.

Thank you Forest-Walker for taking the time to speak with us today!
join us next week when we will be interviewing the very talented
