Niken Anindita is a digital artist who lives in Jakarta, Indonesia. She has a full time job as an office worker, but also devotes her free time to her art. She says "I try my best to do both of my jobs professionally and the result is (eventhough is very tiring) I still can enjoy art as a hobby instead of chores. I'm a master of law, which means I'm a self taught artist. I dont have formal art education. I learn by observing other people's art, photographs, movies, anime, etc."

When did you first discover your passion for art?

I didn't draw until I was 23 (I am now 29 yrs old). I discovered my passion in digital painting after I joined deviantArt. I saw many, many great art and I was moved! I wanted to do something else than just working at the office. I wanted to be more than ordinary, so I bought myself a tablet (I remember correctly it was on December 2009) and started to learn digital painting.

Was your family supportive of your decision to pursue art as a career?

Yes, both of my parents supports any career and path I choose as long as it makes me happy.

What is your favorite piece from your gallery and why?

I think my favorite would be Girl in Front of a Painting. It was probably the darkest piece I've ever done, but thats not the reason. I really love this piece because the idea popped very suddenly and I finished the painting very quickly, yet I wasn't in a hurry at all! it was the one painting I wish to paint it forever because I love the mood so much.

What is your biggest source of inspiration when creating your art?

My biggest source of inspiration, without a doubt, is anime backgrounds! Makoto Shinkai and Kazuo Oga are the important people in my life because they are my biggest influence and inspiration. Equally important are photographs I found randomly on the internet, especially for composition and perspective.

Can you tell us one interesting fact about yourself that we don't know?

I don't drink coffee!

Name three influential artists on DeviantART whose works
inspire you and tell us why you look up to them.
