Hello, and welcome to another edition of Digitalists new interview series:

Behind the Screens: Digital Art Masters

Through these interviews, we will get an in-depth look into the minds
and careers of DeviantART's most influential digital artists.

Today's featured artist is KPEKEP

:iconkpekep:

Alexander is a 27 year old artist who was born and raised in Moscow, Russia. His field of work is fashion and he works in a large Multibrand store where he develops and implements brand products. He enjoys his line of work very much and takes great interest in the field, but in addition to this, he also has a passion for fractal art. He is a senior member here on DeviantART and he is happy to share his work with us today.

When did you first discover your passion for art?

was 13 years old and I began the process of manipulating screenshots from video games. Then, I started to do the design models (in games also), and after some time, I began to make desktop Wallpapers. I came to enjoy the art of photomanipulation and then I got acquainted with fractals and decided that this was what I wanted to do.
Where do you look for inspiration when creating your fractals?

I mostly look here, on DeviantART. I am constantly watching the wonderful artists and their pictures inspire me every day! DeviantART is a true generator of inspiration!

What is your favorite piece from your gallery and why?

Hmm , today it's Another Journey - The Tunnel, but tomorrow I could choose another option. When I made this animation, it was hard. Each frame is a 10-20 minute manipulation. I like this path to nowhere.

For those unfamiliar with this type of art, could you please walk us through the process of creating one of your fractals?

In short, I combine formulas in a 3D fractal program. For me, it's like a game. When I build the fractal composition, I'm working with colors and textures. Then I do the post processing in a graphics editor. Sometimes 2-3 fractals will be combined into one.

There are a lot of people in the community who think receiving a Daily Deviation is essential for achieving popularity on DeviantART. From experience, how much would you say getting awarded Daily Deviations has impacted your success on this site?

Personally for me, they are not affected. I think I am very actively involved in supporting work in groups. I have many popular works without DDs. I gained a small reputation without DDs, but I know that there are so many artists out there that I think would become more popular, so I also try to promote (suggest) amazing pictures and artists whenever I can.

Name three influential artists on DeviantART whose works
inspire you and tell us why you look up to them.

There are so many! At the moment I can't answer this question. Every day someone becomes influential for me, and gives me new inspiration!

Thank you KPEKEP for sharing your wisdom and experience with the community!
