Hello, and welcome to another edition of Digitalists new interview series:

Behind the Screens: Digital Art Masters

Through these interviews, we will get an in-depth look into the minds
and careers of DeviantART's most influential digital artists.

Today's featured artist is Irulana

:iconirulana:

Agnieszka is a full time freelance illustrator and graphic designer. She works with a variety of digital media and does everything from illustration, game design, animation, web design and more. She is mostly self-taught, however she has attended some formal graphic design courses. She says that she prefers to learn by herself through experimentation.

I noticed you are working on something called "The Angelchild Project." Could you please explain to the community what your project is about?

I was working on it a few years ago but currently I don't have time for it. I have a story and I wanted to create a graphic novel. Maybe one day when I retire, who knows!

What do you think are your strengths and weaknesses as an artist?

I like to work on details and I'm really focused on them, but its because I'm forgeting about the whole composition. I had a problem with painting faces and anatomy, but with time I think I learned how to fight those things, but there is still a lot to learn.
I see you are working on a collaboration project with another artist called "Vanarium." Could you tell us a little bit about the comic?

This one is currently on hold too as I don't have time for it. It was a collaboration comic with my husband. Maybe we will turn our comics into games someday so it would be easier to make them when they will make a profit and we will have money for food.

As a professional digital artist, what advice can you give to those who are trying to become successful in the business?

Practice all over! Try to always make better work then your previous and don't be afraid to try new things. Make some friends in the artist community, they can help you with feedback and maybe finding a nice job too.

There are a lot of people in the community who think receiving a Daily Deviation
is essential for achieving popularity on DeviantART. From experience,
how much would you say getting awarded Daily Deviations has
impacted your success on this site?

It really helps you in becoming more popular...especially in the beginning, and all the nice comments that you get. It really gives you wings!

Name three influential artists on DeviantART whose works
inspire you and tell us why you look up to them.

Jean Tay ( azhrarn ) and Linda Bergkvist ( enayla ) are my favorite. Sadly, they don't update their galleries anymore, but I have loved their works from the beginning and I hope that I can achieve their level some day. It's hard to pickup the third because there are many that I like but these two are my favorite.

What a fascinating artist! Beautiful gallery!

I am amazed she is mostly self taught, that is inspiring to those of us learning.

Thank you for introducing us to her.
